RIHA - Speaking at the vigil launched at the Pirsûs-Kobanê border, DEM Party Riha MP Dilan Kunt Ayan underlined that this vigil is the vigil of freedom and hope of the Kurdish people and stated that everyone should unite around the message from İmralı.
The resistance vigil against the attacks by Turkey and its paramilitary groups against Northern and Eastern Syria continues on its 8th day. On 28 December, Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Group Deputy Chairman Sırrı Süreyya Önder and Wan MP Pervin Buldan held a meeting with PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan in İmralı Prison.
DEM Party Riha MP Dilan Kunt Ayan, who participated in the Pirsûs-Kobanê watch demonstration, spoke to our agency about the watch demonstration and the meeting with İmralı.
‘Pirsûs will host the resistance’
Dilan Kunt Ayan stated that the resistance watch is growing day by day and said, "For us, Rojava does not only mean Kurdish gains. There are the gains of the peoples together. There is an autonomous administration where Kurds, Arabs and all other peoples live a common life together. There is an intense attack due to this. Just as Pirsûs embraced the spirit of Kobanê in 2014 and grew this process, today it will raise its voice against the massacres being carried out by the gangs in Rojava. And it will host the resistance."
‘It is the Kurdish people's vigil for freedom and hope’
‘This vigil is not only a vigil against the attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria,’ Dilan Kunt Ayan said: "It is the vigil of freedom and hope of the Kurdish people. It is a vigil to protect women's gains in Rojava. It is necessary to evaluate it like this. For 100 years, nation states have made great efforts to prevent the manifestation of a common life in these lands. However, all their efforts were in vain. Because the people no longer accept the existing system. Because of this, all peoples need to say peace together."
‘We need to give voice’
Reminding the 28 October meeting with İmralı, Dilan Kunt Ayan reminded the statement made after the meeting. Dilan Kunt Ayan said, "We also need to give voice to the determination and licence that Mr Öcalan has put forward. As all peoples, we are part of this process and we all need to fight for peace to come to these lands. This is of great importance not only for Kurds but also for the democratisation of Turkey. Everyone should lend a hand to this process. From young people to women, from the government to the opposition, everyone needs to enlarge this process. We need to raise the hope for peace. While calls for talks are made on the one hand, the attacks on Rojava on the other hand show how the government is trying to carry out this process with a hitch."
‘The action will continue with determination’
Dilan Kunt Ayan called for a vigil against the attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria and said, "Our vigil will continue with determination to add voice to the voice of the Rojava people. On the other hand, everyone should unite around the message of Mr Öcalan. Our struggle and vigil will continue until the attacks on Rojava end, until the hope of equality and peace comes to these lands. A message of this hope has come, we call on everyone to embrace this message and participate in the vigil action."
