Hearing of soldier kills Sürmi İnce adjourned

HAKKARİ - Lawyers demanded for recusation during the hearing in case opened about the killing of Sürmi İnce in Yüksekova by soldiers and the court has adjourned the hearing to May 29.
 
Fifth hearing in case opened against soldier Ali Dağkıran for killing of 55 years old Sürmi İnce in the Büyükçiftlik town of Hakkari’s Yüksekova district on July 18, 2016 while she was bringing food for her children who were harvesting crops in the fields was held by Yüksekova High Criminal Court. Sürmi’s husband Hasan İnce, her son Bünyamin İnce and their lawyers and defense lawyer attended the hearing.
 
Demand for recusation
 
Lawyers of Sürmi’s family stated that the court will not make a fair decision and demanded for recusation. The lawyers said, “One-sided hearing saying, ‘Soldiers and police don’t kill civilians’ is being held. An investigation must be opened against the commander of the police station and other 10 people and they should be tried as defendants.”
 
After the defenses of the lawyers, the court has adjourned the hearing to May 29. The hearing to be held on May 29 is expected to be final hearing.
 
 What had happened?
 
 Sürmi İnce (55) shot in the Büyükçiftlik town of Hakkari’s Yüksekova district on July 18, 2016 by soldiers while she was bringing food for her children who were harvesting crops in the fields. Being taken to the Yüksekova State Hospital by her relatives, Sürmi could not be saved despite all medical efforts.
 
Soldier Ali Dağkıran was only taken into custody and he was then released.
