Hunger strike starts in European cities for Abdullah Öcalan

NEWS CENTER-Hunger strike was launched outside of buildings of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) and the European Council located in Strasbourg against the isolation imposed upon the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan. Simultaneous hunger strike has been also launched in many cities of Europe.
 
Yesterday, a hunger strike launched outside of the buildings of the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) and the European Council located in Strasbourg against the isolation imposed upon the PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan upon the call of the European Kurdish Democratic Societies Congress. Representatives of the Kurdish organizations in Europe, politicians, mayors, intellectuals, artists and representatives of some European organizations joined the hunger strike.
 
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) MPs Tuğba Hezer and Faysal Sarıyıldız and representatives of Green Left Party and Syriac people supported the five-day hunger strike.
 
Hunger strike in four cities of Germany
 
Hunger strike has been started in German Berlin, Cologne, Hannover and Bremen cities within the scope of the Freedom for Öcalan Campaign.
 
The hunger strike started in front of the torn down church in the Kurfürstendamm Square in Berlin city center will continues three days.
 
A three-day hunger strike started at the Rudolph Platz by the Kurdish people living in Germany’s North Ren Vestfalya city.  PYD member Dersim Al Elî read the press statement on behalf of hunger strikers. Pointing out the aggravated isolation imposed upon Abdullah Öcalan, Dersim said, “Leader Apo (Abdullah Öcalan) has been under a great threat and attack for 20 years. Leader Apo is reason for life, freedom and existence for the Kurdish people.”
 
A tent has been set up outside of the Parliament building in Bremen. The hunger strike launched by the Kurdish people living in Bremen and nearby cities will end tomorrow after holding a demonstration.
 
Hunger strike in France
 
A three-day hunger strike has been started in Marseille city of France. People living in Marignane, Draguignane and Montpellier have also joined the hunger strike held at Vieux Port Square.
