Detention period of editors and employees of Özgürlükçü Demokrasi newspaper extended

ISTANBUL - Detention period of seven people, editors and employees of Özgürlükçü Demokrasi newspaper has been extended.
 
Istanbul 7th Peace Court appointed trustee to Özgürlükçü Demokrasi newspaper and Gün Printing House on March 28, 2018 with upon the request of the Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office and they were transferred to the Saving Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF). 20 employees of Gün Printing House and Özgürlükçü Demokrasi’s principal signatory and editor-in-chief, who were taken into custody on March 29, were jailed by the court.
 
The newpaper’s employees and editors, who were taken into custody on April 4, 2018, are still held in Istanbul Police Headquarters located on Vatan Avenue. The newspaper’s editors Mehmet Ali Çelebi, Reyhan Hacıoğlu and Hicran Urun and the newspaper’s employees Pınar Tarlak, Ramazan Sola and Nedim Demirkıran and former employee Mehmet Beyazit were expected to be sent to the court today; however,  the prosecutor has extended their detention period.
 
The detained editors and employees are expected to be sent to the court tomorrow.
