27 people detained in Hatay

HATAY - 27 people, including politicians, unionists and representatives of the human rights organizations, have been taken into custody after house raids conducted in Hatay province.
 
Police conducted house raids in Hatay province in the morning. 27 people, including co-chairs of the HDP, have been taken into custody. Detained people have been taken to Hatay Provincial Police Headquarters. The reason for the detention alleged to be their statements against the attacks on Afrin.
 
Names of some detained people are as follows; HDP Hatay Provincial Co-chairs Sultan Başaran and Kerem Nalbant, HDP Samandağ Co-chair Adnan Eryılmaz, HDP Defne District Co-chair Mithat Miroğlu, Socialist Re-Foundation Party (SYKP) Hatay Provincial Co-chair Hülya Kavuk, Human Rights Association (İHD) Hatay Branch Chair Mithat Can, The Confederation of Progressive Trade Unions of Turkey (DİSK) Hatay Branch Chair Yusuf Berkyürek and HDP administrators Dilek Daplan and Seher Cevheroğlu and lawyer Çetin Sakallı.
 
5 detained in İskenderun
 
Meanwhile, five people detained in İskenderun district two day ago were sent to İskenderun Courthouse yesterday. The five people have been jailed on alleged charges of “propagandizing for a (terrorist) organization.”
