6 detained in ‘We want our jobs back’ action

ANKARA - Police attacked the people on the 396th day of “We want our jobs back” action maintained on Yüksel Avenue and detained six people.
 
The hunger strike launched by dismissed educators Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça is on the 276th day. The “We want our jobs back” action initiated on Yüksel Avenue in solidarity with two educators continued despite police intervention.
 
The people gathered in Konur Street to hold a solidarity action with Nuriye and Semih and they wanted to make a statement on Yüksel Avenue. Police officers, who had closed the Konur Street with detention vehicles and shields, didn’t allow the people to enter the Yüksel Avenue. In response, the protesters unfurled a banner reading “Nuriye and Semih should be reinstated” and began to shout slogans. Police attacked the protesters and detained six of them.
