Violence against woman on Yüksel Avenue

ANKARA - Police attacked the protesters on the 382nd day of “We want our jobs back” action on Yüksel Avenue and detained a woman saying, “Today is November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women” by using violence.
 
Hunger strike launched by dismissed educators Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça has entered in its 262nd day and the “We want our jobs back” action carried out by two educators’ supporters has entered in its 382nd day. Police didn’t allow the laborers to make a statement in front of the Human Rights Monument on Yüksel Avenue. Thereupon, the laborers gathered in Konur Street and unfurled a banner reading, “Nuriye and Semih should be reinstated.” A female laborer named Alev Şahin was subjected to police violence while shouting, “Today is November 25, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.”
 
Police battered and detained Alev Şahin, Nazan Bozkurt, Simge Aksam, Sultan Aydoğdu, İlker Işık and two unidentified people.
