NEWS CENTRE - HTS gangs cutting and sharing the braided hair of a female fighter in Raqqa has sparked outrage among thousands of women. Women have stated that their hair symbolizes honor, memory, and resistance. 

 

Attacks by the HTS and DAISH gangs on Rojava continue. These gangs commit war crimes and crimes against humanity wherever they go, particularly targeting women.

 

In an attack on the Şêxmeqsêd and Eşrefiyê neighborhoods of Aleppo, a female fighter's body was thrown from a building and tortured. 

 

Meanwhile, the gangs shared images on social media showing them cutting the braided hair of a female fighter they had captured in Raqqa and displaying it. 

 

In response, thousands of women shared images of themselves with braided hair on social media, expressing their anger. In their posts, the women wrote that Kurdish women's hair symbolizes honor, memory, and resistance.

 

Female TV presenters also protested the gangs by cutting their hair on screen. 

 

Furthermore, Jina Emini was murdered in Tehran, Iran's capital, by the "morality police" in 2022 because her hair was visible.

 

The "Jin Jiyan Azadî" protests that began in Iran in response to her murder spread to Rojhilat and all cities in Iran. This resistance was embraced by women worldwide. The universal impact of the "Jin Jiyan Azadi" protests is still being felt today.
