DİYARBAKIR - The United Kurdish Women’s Platform condemned the 30 years prison sentence given to TJA Term Spokesperson Ayşe Gökkan and said, ‘’We reiterate that we will tall in the saddle in the Kurdish women’s struggle with all our dynamics’’.

The United Kurdish Women’s Platform condemned the 30 years prison sentence given to Free Women’s Movement (TJA) Term Spokesperson Ayşe Gökkan on allegations of ‘’being an executive of a terrorist organization’’ and ‘’being a member of a terrorist organization’’ in a written statement issued yesterday.

In the statement, it was emphasized that the punishment given to Ayşe, who devoted more than 30 years of her life to the women’s struggle, was unlawful and said, ‘’Ayşe Gökkan, who was detained tens of times throughout her political life and more than 200 investigations were opened, is also an important actor in the Kurdish women’s struggle as well as in women’s struggle. That’s why this punishment was given to her. We see this unlawfulness against Ayşe Gökkan as being done to Kurdish women and values in the person of Gökkan’’.

In the statement said:

‘’We would like to state that we will continue the struggle of Ayşe Gökkan, that we are always by her side, and that we will never bow down to the unlawfulness imposed on us. As the United Kurdish Women’s Platform, we reiterate that we never accept these unlawfulnesses, that we will follow the case during this process and that we will tall in the saddle in the Kurdish women’s struggle with all our dynamics. Ayşe Gökkan faced this punishment because she is a Kurdish woman beyond all her identities. As the United Kurdish Women’s Platform, we do not accept this lawlessness and condemn it in the strongest possible terms’’.
