ISTANBUL - A lawsuit was filed against Berkin Elvan’s mother, Gülsüm Elvan, and his father, Sami Elvan, for ‘’insult to President’’ because of their statements after the hearings.

 

A lawsuit has been filed against to mother and father of Berkin Elvan, who was killed by the gas canister thrown by the police in Okmeydanı during the Gezi Park resistance. The reason for the lawsuit filed against Gülsüm and Sami on charge of ‘’insult to President’’ are the statements made by them after Berkin’s cases. 

 

Investigations regarding the statements of Sami Elvan on September 23, 2020, and Gülsüm and Sami Elvan on January 29, 2021, after the hearings in Çağlayan, were combined. Istanbul 43rd Criminal Court of First Instance accepted the indictment prepared by the Public Prosecutor.

The first hearing will be held on January 20, 2022.
