IZMIR - It has been announced that the preparations for the ‘A Breath for Democracy’ rally, which will be held under the leading of HDP and Labor and Democracy Forces, have begun.

The rally, which will be held on July 8 under the leading of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) and the Labor and Democracy Forces with the slogan "A Breath for Democracy", was decided to start the event from Izmir after Deniz Poyraz was murdered. Delegation parties, including HDP MPs Serpil Kemalbay, Pero Dündar, Remziye Tosun and Oya Ersoy, held a press conference at the Izmir Provincial Building. Serpil Kemalbay, HDP Central Executive Board member Mahfuz Güleryüz and HDP Izmir Provincial Co-chair Kadir Baydur took the floor at the press conference.

‘The killer was trained by the deep state’

Calling for the rally, Serpil stated that the peoples have been in deep pain of transformation for a long time and stated that the resistance continues in the face of policies of exploitation, violence, oppression, and war. Expressing that the government has resorted to every means to purge the HDP, Serpil said: ‘’The repetition of political murders and massacres, the latest example of which has been staged many times, took place in our provincial building in a city with a meaning like Izmir. This attack has resemblance to many murders in our history. A trained fascist killer, equipped in the halls of the state, which is expressed as dark forces, murdered our innocent defenseless friend in our provincial building. This message was made not only for the Kurds and HDP, but to intimidate anyone who demands change and democracy and to create chaos. There are many indications that the person who committed this murder was trained on Syrian lands by the state.’’

‘The forces of democracy must respond’

Expressing that the massacre should not be left in the dark, Serpil said: ‘’If the Musa Anter massacre and Abdi İpekçi massacres had been enlightened, we would not have lost Deniz. We are losing our Denizs because we cannot pass the necessary exam to realize this confrontation. We must build a new life where we can live together in peace, where there is no looting, where all peoples can live as their own, so that our Denizs do not die. For this, all democratic forces must respond successfully.’’
