ISTANBUL - The lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan once again applied to the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office to meet with their clients.

Faik Özgür Erol, Raziye Öztürk, Rezan Sarıca and Cengiz Yürekli, lawyers of PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, who is being held under heavy isolation in İmralı F Type High Security Prison, made a new application to the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, requesting a meeting with their client.

Rezan Sarıca and Newroz Uysal, one of Abdullah Öcalan's lawyers, were able to meet with their clients on May 2-22, June 12-18, and August 7, 2019, after eight years.

Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office imposed a six-month meeting ban on lawyers on 23 September 2020 on the grounds of the "Road Map" prepared by Abdullah Öcalan in addition to his defense submitted to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in 2009. Although the ban ended on March 23, no response was given to the applications made by lawyers until March. However, the application for a meeting by the lawyers of the PKK leader in March was rejected on the grounds that Abdullah Öcalan was given a new disciplinary sanction in January.

The phone call on March 25 was interrupted

Abdullah Öcalan, who has been held under severe isolation conditions in İmralı for 22 years, was given the right to call on the phone for the first time on April 27, 2020. Abdullah Öcalan had a telephone call with his brother Mehmet Öcalan on March 25, after the public's concerns about his life due to some of the posts on social media. However, Mehmet Öcalan announced that this conversation was interrupted.
