NEWS CENTER - While the 32nd group took over, the hunger strike launched by the prisoners to end the aggravated isolation imposed upon PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and the increasing violations of rights in prisons, is on its 156th day.

The 32nd group took over the hunger strike action that Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) prisoners launched on November 27, 2020, demanding an end to the isolation imposed on PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan and the increasing violations of rights in prisons. The action continues on the 156th day.

The violations of rights in prisons deepened with the pandemic process. Most prisoners cannot even meet their basic needs. Sick prisoners cannot reach the right to health and are kept in single-person wards away from hygiene. Families of prisoners and human rights defenders made a call against the isolation system that started in İmralı prison and has spread to all areas of life, especially in prisons.
