6.4 magnitude earthquake in Albania: at least 21 deaths

TIRANA - 6.4 earthquakes occurred in Albania. At least 21 people lost their lives and many people were injured.
 
The Center for Euro-Mediterranean Seismology announced that an earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale occurred at 05.54 am in Albania, Tirana. Many buildings were destroyed in the earthquake. Search and rescue teams reached the dead body of 21 people. Nearly 200 people were injured in the earthquake.
 
The Albanian Ministry of Defense shared that 44 people were rescued from the wreckage of a destroyed building in the city of Durres. Local media announced that the fire department, medical teams and the armed forces are continuing the rescues throughout Albania. On the other hand, the Ministry of Defense made a statement about search and rescue teams sent from Turkey due to the earthquake.
 
Hundreds of soldiers distributed tents for homeless people to help them spend the night.
 
On social media, images of some collapsing buildings in Durres were published. Schools were holidayed due to earthquakes in Durres, Lezha and Tirana.
