NEWS CENTER - Artificial heart surgery specialist Dilek Gürsoy received the German Medicine Award.

Artificial heart surgery specialist Dilek Gürsoy received the German Medicine Award at a ceremony held in Düsseldorf, Germany. Gursoy made a speech at the ceremony saying that she is happy and proud, the award encouraged her more.

The first woman to perform artificial heart surgery in Europe

Dilek, who has been working in the field of artificial heart surgery since 2010, performed the first artificial heart surgery in 2012. She was the first female surgeon to perform this surgery in Europe. She has performed 30 operations so far. Dilek, who is still working on a new artificial heart project, announced that this new heart will be transplanted for the first time in 2023.
