RIHA - While the resistance vigil started on the Pirsûs-Kobanê border continues on the 7th day, the statement made here emphasised the meeting held in İmralı and called for the solution and peace will put forward by İmralı to be taken as basis.
The vigil started in Pirsûs (Suruç) district of Riha on the border of Kobanê against the attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria continued on its 7th day.
A banner reading "Rojava rûmeta meyê/ Rojava is our honour" was unfurled and photographs of journalists Cihan Bilgin and Nazım Daştan, who were killed by Turkish drones, were carried.
Emphasis on Kobanê-Pirsûs
Stating that every word spoken here is heard in Kobanê, Mehmet Karayılan, Co-Mayor of Riha Xelfetî Municipality, who was replaced by a trustee, said: "You cannot separate Kobanê from Pirsûs. Kobanê was achieved through the struggle of the peoples of the world. There is now a threat to the living spaces won by the peoples. This threat is against all the peoples of the region. We are trying to protect the rights gained against ISIS barbarism. The bullet fired at Kobanê touches our hearts. This morning we woke up with excitement because we received news from İmralı. A meeting was held with Mr Öcalan, the first interlocutor of the Kurdish Question. We send greetings to Mr Öcalan's greetings from the Kobanê border. Mr Öcalan's peace and solution initiatives must be responded to. We will raise our struggle by embracing the message of Mr Öcalan."
‘We will not leave Kobanê alone’
Then Ahmet Baran, the spokesperson of Amed Labour and Democracy Platform, took the floor and reminded the developments in Syria. Ahmet Baran said, "Syrian Kurds are not alone and we will not allow Syrian Kurds to be sacrificed to jihadist terrorism. The Kurds, who played an active role in the security of the region during the period when ISIS terrorised the entire region, have unfortunately been left alone by their western allies today. Syrian Kurds are in danger from jihadist attacks on their territory. These attacks must be stopped and the negotiation process must start as soon as possible."
Call to respond to attacks
Rêdûr Dîcle, Co-President of the Kurdish Literary Association (Komeleya Wêjekarên Kurd), said: "We are going through a historical process. Both hegemonic powers and Turkey have entered into efforts to redesign Syria. All hegemonic powers, especially Turkey, see the autonomous administration as a danger and try to attack it. Civilians and journalists are massacred in these attacks. As writers and journalists, we state that we are against the invasion attacks. We call on everyone to respond with one voice against the attacks."
‘Greetings from Mr Ocalan’
Stating that the free coexistence system established in Northern and Eastern Syria was targeted, DEM Party Riha MP Dilan Kunt Ayan said the following: "Nation states have been trying to destroy peoples for 100 years. However, their calculation did not work. It is the time to be united, it is the time to give voice to those who bring hope. We received greetings from Mr Öcalan. Mr Öcalan has stated that he will contribute positively to the process. We hereby call on all people and democratic mass organisations to give voice to this call in the spirit of the Kobanê resistance. We state that the ground for democratic politics should be provided as soon as possible."
