ŞIRNAK - TJA and HDP Şırnak Women’s Council held a march in İdil on the occasion of November 25 with the ‘Purple Chain’ action.

 

The Free Women’s Movement (TJA) and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Şırnak Women’s Council held a march with the ‘Purple Chain’ action in Şırnak’s İdil district as part of events of the November 25 International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Members of the Peace Mothers Council, HDP provincial and district organizations and many women participated in the action held in the marketplace on Turgut Özal Avenue. In the ‘Purple Chain’ action, photographs of the killed women and placards write on ‘’Self-defense is a right, not a crime’’, ‘’No silence, our resistance is everywhere’’ and ‘’Em li dijî çanda tecawizê têdikoşin û xwediparêzin’’ were carried. The women marched with the slogans ‘’Jin, jiyan, azadî’’, ‘’Bijî berxwedana zindanan’’, ‘’Deniz Poyraz is immortal’’, ‘’Bijî berxwedana jinan’’ and ‘’Berxwedan jiyane’’.

 

While women were marching up to the end of the avenue, İdil Municipality Co-Mayor Songül Erden, who was replaced with trustee, said, ‘’The day is the time of women’s freedom’’ and emphasized that they resisted and will resist against harassment, rape and violence.

 

The action ended with the slogans of women.
