Freedom documentary: Hêza

NEWS CENTER - The documentary ‘’Hêza’’, about an Yazidi woman who was abducted by ISIS but later escaped and participated in the operation that liberated Raqqa, is being prepared for festivals.
 
The documentary ‘’Hêza’’, which tells the story of an Yazidi woman who was abducted with 24 of her family as a result of the ISIS attack on Shengal on August 3, 2014, has been completed. The documentary, shot in Northern and Eastern Syria, Raqqa and Shengal, emerged with a one-year work. The music of the documentary Hêza, directed by Derya Deniz, was prepared by Mehmud Berazî. Montage and footage were shot by Şaristan Mahîr, Aza Boran, Afat Baz and Îbrahîm Sedî.
 
The preview of the completed documentary was shared. It is expected to participate in the festivals in the coming days.
 
Theme of the documentary
 
ISIS takes their abductees to Raqqa, where they encounter brutality. She attempts suicide many times but does not die. With the support of a Kurdish family, she gets out of Raqqa and becomes free. Returning to Shengal once again in 2015, the Kurdish Yazidi woman later joined the Shengal Women’s Protection Units‎ (YJŞ) and became a commander.
 
Returning to Raqqa as the YJŞ commander in 2016, she joins the move to liberate Raqqa. After Raqqa is cleared from ISIS, the Yazidi woman finds and visits the Kurdish family who supported her liberation.
