‘They should be reinstated to hold on to life’

NEWS CENTER-Many intellectuals, artists, writers and lawyers made call for Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça, who are on hunger strike for 280 days, to be reinstated. 
 
Many intellectuals, artists, writers and lawyers have taken action for dismissed educators Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça by statutory decree (KHK). Intellectuals, artists, writers, including Defne Halman, Ataol Behramoğlu, Edip Akbayram, Onur Ünlü, Atilla Dorsay, Ahmet Ümit, Fatmi Girik, Ercan Kesal, Erdal Bayrakoğlu, Tayfun Atay, Melda Onur, Füsun Demirel, Müjde Ar, Cahit Berkay, Barış Atay, Levent Üzümcü, Hilmi Yarayıcı, Orhan Aydın, Barbaros Şansal, Şebnem Korur Fincancı, Sırrı Süreyya Önder, Menderes Samancılar, Ayşe Kulin and Antalya, Sakarya, Van and Diyarbakır bar presidents made a call by newspaper advertisments that they wrote, to make Nuriye and Semih, who are on 280th day of their hunger strike, to be reinstated by the government.
 
 The call was as follows:
 
“Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça struggle for both their life and for their job. They should be reinstated to hold on life. We want commission for the examination of proceedings under the state of emergency to decide as soon as possible and put an end to this injustice. Time is running out every day. Nuriye Gülmen ile Semih Özakça should be reinstated. Work justice and the right to life require this."
