DİYARBAKIR - Besile Narin stated that a new stone had been put on the headstone of her son, who lost his life in Rojava, in Yeniköy Asri Cemetery and she said that what is going on is unacceptable and that she will renew it soon.
Besile Narin’s son Ali Narin (nom de guerre Dilsad Amed) lost his life in Rojava in 2013 while fighting Daesh. Besime fought to take her son’s dead body for 10 months. As a result of her struggle, she buried her son in his hometown; however her struggle isn’t ended. The YPJ fighters’ graves were destroyed in Yeniköy Asri Cemetery but her son’s grave stone wasn’t. Instead of destroying Ali Narin’s headstone, police put a different grave stone written on only his name and surname. Besile said she would never accept that and she would renew the stone.
Stating that the attacks against the Kurds are unacceptable, Besile said, “Like all families of martyrs, I made my son's headstone special. We wrote his name, surname, nom de guerre and a short poem on his headstone. His picture was also on it… I went to the cemetery as soon as I heard the grave stones were being broken. They didn’t break my son’s headstone but they put another stone on it. We don’t understand what a hate and anger is this.”
‘They don’t have right to do this’
Besile stated that the Kurdish women cannot be intimidated by attacks on graves and she said that the police don’t have right to destroy the graves.
‘They are our martyrs’
Besile said, “Our children lost their lives while following truth. For this reason, they are our martyrs. They want to ignore this reality by destroying our children’s graves but they cannot do this. Putting another stone on my son’s headstone is injustice. We don’t want this stone to be there. We will renew the stones. As a mother, this is my duty.”
