NEWS CENTER - Numerous journalists, academics, and religious educators from South Kurdistan have called on Kurds to unite, stressing the need to be prepared for all eventualities.
Dozens of journalists, academics, and religious educators in South Kurdistan issued an urgent call regarding the general situation of the Kurdish people in Rojava and South Kurdistan. The call stated that with the recent attacks on Rojava, the Kurdish people are facing a great danger of genocide and that the situation is still critical. It was stated that Kobanê and the surrounding cities are still under siege.
The following was stated in my appeal:
"This occupation has caused a humanitarian catastrophe and war crimes. The silence of the region and the international community has been a historic lesson and a new experience for all Kurds. This event could be repeated in another part of Kurdistan, as it has been in Syria. Kurds must be united and prepared for all undesirable scenarios. The hopes for this unity are clearly visible even amid widespread internal conflicts.
The national unity of the Kurds is paramount.
This unity is our people's strongest weapon. Unfortunately, sometimes in the real and figurative world, the voice of this unity is lost amid divisions. All sacred values and different ideas must be approached with respect; the oppression of the Kurds should be a source of hope for the unity of the Kurdish people. A common project and plan against the oppressors must be developed in every way of thinking. Today's widespread support is a sign of humanity and solidarity with Rojava Kurdistan.
We call on political parties, media organizations, civil society organizations, and all Kurds: work together on common ground and be united even in different ideas. The public must organize against all dangers and avoid all actions that could lead to division. The national unity of the Kurds is paramount; we must embrace messages that foster a spirit of unity. Let us tell the world: despite our disagreements, we are united for a higher purpose.
