‘Jihadist militias and the Turkish military are surrounding Kobane’

“Youth United For Rojava; As internationalist youth from different youth organizations in Germany, we have come to Amed as a delegation to express our solidarity with the resistance in Rojava. We are here in Bakur to take part in the youth protests. On the 6th of January, HTS launched a new major offensive against the self-governing areas in Aleppo. This marked the start of a large-scale, internationally planned offensive against the democratic self-administration of northern and eastern Syria. Since then, jihadist militias financed by Turkey have been attacking the population in northern and eastern Syria and have freed thousands of ISIS fighters from prisons. Right now, jihadist militias and the Turkish military are surrounding Kobane and advancing further into Cizire. The humanitarian situation in these areas is becoming increasingly catastrophic. In Kobane, people are cut off from water, electricity and food. Last night at least five children have died.

What we are seeing here is not just a campaign of destruction by jihadist gangs or the Turkish state, but rather an international attempt to destroy democratic self-government and its achievements. For many decades, rulers from the region of the Middle East, the United States, and Europe have been fighting for influence and ideological dominance in the area. For many decades, the West, and above all the USA, are trying to increase their power and influence in the region. They are willing to walk over dead bodies for shorter trade routes, resources, or simplified deportations. All Western governments share responsibility for the massacres currently being committed in the self-governing region of north-eastern Syria. This includes Germany.

An Serkeftin an Serkeftin

That is why we are here. Internationalism as the basis for the struggle for a free life worldwide is not just a phrase but a practice that we must take responsibility for. As young people from Germany, we see it as our responsibility to defend democratic self-organization. Rojava is the revolution of our time, offering an alternative to the exploitative and inhuman system of capitalism. What we have to defend now in Rojava is not just the region. It is more about defending the idea of Socialism and espacially the paradigm Of Rêber Apo (mr. Öcalan) that we see as an example for the liberation of the people . We as a delegation demand the physical freedom of Rêber Apo. His unlimited right to participate in this process is necessary for its success. And resistance is emerging! The people of Rojava are organizing to defend their land and the revolution—and we stand by their side. This once again shows us as democratic youth, that only internationalism from below, our solidarity with one another, can counteract wars and bring about peace. We will carry this message from Europe to Rojava. No border can stop us! Biji Berxwedana Rojava! Long live international solidarity! An Serkeftin an Serkeftin!”
