Racist attack and death threat to Syrian and Lebanese family

ANKARA - In Altındağ district, two Lebanese and Syrian families were racistly attacked by a group of about 50 people while they were sitting in the park.
 
Two families, one Syrian and the other Lebanese, were subjected to racist attacks in the Baraj Neighborhood of Ankara's Altındağ district. In the morning, while two families were talking in Arabic among themselves in the park, they were racistly attacked by a group of about 50 people.
 
It turned out that the racist group continued the attack, saying to the families, ‘’dirty Arabs, we do not want you here, if you do not go, we will continue to beat you here.’’
 
They ave been attacked before
 
The attacked family told Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Women's Council member Mariam Haddad about their experiences because They did not speak Turkish. According to Mariam, the family expressed the following: ‘’The neighborhood we live in is a conservative neighborhood. Since we had a pet (dog) in the apartment where we stayed, the people living in the apartment in the spring last year said, ‘’We don't want a dog here.’’ We gave the dog to someone else to avoid problem. This morning, while we were sitting in the park with a Syrian family, our neighbors and a few strangers surrounded us and attacked us.’’
 
‘Death’ threat to family
 
Stating that the family's vehicle was destroyed by a racist group before their eyes, Mariam said that after the attack, the family called the police and after the police arrived at the scene, the family and 50 people went to the police station. Mariam said that the racist group at the police station threatened the family with ‘death’. Mariam shared that the family is showed as ‘’guilty’’, not ‘’victim’’.
Mariam also stated that the Lebanese family will move to another place due to the racist attack.
