UN report: SNA harasses civilian population

NEWS CENTER - According to the report prepared by the UN Human Rights Council, Turkey-backed armed groups in Northern and Eastern Syria are committing numerous rights violations against the civilian population.
 
The United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council International Independent Research Commission on Syria shared its report with the public. In his statement regarding the report, Commission Chairperson Paulo Pinheiro said: ‘’Many civilians lose their lives and become disabled in the attacks carried out by armed groups in Efrîn, Hesekê and Serêkaniyê. In the same regions, the harassment of the members of the Syrian National Army (SNA) against civilians continues.’’
 
‘SNA harasses women and children’
 
Paulo Pinheiro said: ‘’Members of the SNA have recently held many civilians, including women and children.’’
 
Pointing out that Turkey-backed SNA members looted many properties, Paulo Pinheiro said: ‘’People are afraid to return to their homes because of these attacks and harassments.’’
 
Hol Camp
 
Paulo Pinheiro also mentioned to the Hol Camp in Hesekê and said: ‘’90 percent of the people in the camp are women and children. An estimated 40,000 people are sheltering, and this is a disgrace. While camp security is getting worse; Since the beginning of 2021, there have been about 60 murders.’’
