ISTANBUL - The Women's Platform for Equality (EŞİK) issued a statement signed by 88 women's organizations against the decision to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention and announced that a "Great Women's Rally" would be held in Istanbul on June 19.

The Women's Platform for Equality (EŞİK) announced in a written statement that it will organize a "Great Women's Rally" on June 19 against the abolishment of the Istanbul Convention on July 1. In the text signed by 88 women's organizations and institutions, it was stated that women from all over Turkey will come together in Istanbul on June 19 to demonstrate their strength and unity.

‘They want to intend our lives’

Reminding that the decision to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention was unlawful, the statement said that women did not accept this decision. Emphasizing that the Istanbul Convention is a document of women's right to equality, the statement said: "Those who want to destroy the Istanbul Convention; It also wants to destroy our struggle against inequality, violence, femicides, harassment, child abuse, discrimination, hate language, hostility, war policies, polarization, the usurpation of our labor, turning our homes, streets and workplaces into prisons. And in these days when the power-mafia cooperation and male-state violence are exposed once again, we see that those who want to abolish the Istanbul Convention in the middle of the night want to intend our lives and make us 'spectators' of what is going on."

‘We are meeting on June 19’

In the statement, it was stated that the women's objections continue, mentioned: "We defend our rights and lives against those who want to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention, those who see male-state violence and child abuse as 'tolerable', and those who think our lives depend on a word. We are coming together in Istanbul, departing from all over the country, to declare that we do not give up on the Istanbul Convention, on June 19, 2021."

Call to the ‘Great Women’s Rally’

In the statement, which stated that they came together under the leading of the Women's Platform for Equality (EŞİK), we will once again shout that we have not given up on our rights, our struggle and the Istanbul Convention. We declare that we will not give up even a single right of ours, lay claim to our lives, and meet once again on June 19 from all over Turkey to demonstrate our unity and strength. We invite all women and LGBTI+ individuals to the Great Women's Rally, We Don't Give Up on the Istanbul Convention! We are missing if you are not there. We are in Istanbul, where the Istanbul Convention was opened for signature on June 19."
