ISTANBUL - PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan's family, lawyers and defensor applied to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for an interview.
Rezan Sarıca, Faik Özgür Erol, Cengiz Yürekli and Raziye Öztürk, the lawyers of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) leader Abdullah Öcalan, who have been kept under isolation in İmralı F Type High-Security Closed Prison, applied to Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office on Monday with a request to interview with their clients.
Abdullah Öcalan's brother Mehmet Öcalan and his guardian Mazlum Dinç, other prisoners in İmralı, Ömer Hayri Konar's brother Ali Konar, Hamili Yıldırım's brother Polat Yıldırım and Veysi Aktaş's sister Melihe Çetin also applied for an interview through their lawyers.
Applications are not answered
The Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office imposed a siz-month lawyer visitation ban on September 23, 2020, on the grounds of the "Road Map" prepared in addition to Abdullah Öcalan's defense sent to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) in 2009. Although the visitation ban ended on March 23, neither a positive nor negative response is given to the applications made by the lawyers.
Rezan Sarıca and Newroz Uysal, lawyers of Abdullah Öcalan, were able to interview with their clients after aight years on 2-22 May, 12-18 June, and August 7, 2019.
The conversation was interrupted
Abdullah Öcalan, who has been kept under severe isolation conditions in the İmralı F Type High-Security Closed Prison for 22 years, first benefited from the right of phone call on April 27, 2020.
The leader of the PKK, who was kept in isolation, talked to his brother Mehmet Öcalan on the phone on March 25, as public concerns grew due to some allegations on social media, but Mehmet Öcalan announced that this conversation was interrupted.
