International call for Abdullah Öcalan from Northern and Eastern Syria

NEWS CENTER - 2,541 signatures collected as part of the campaign launched for Abdullah Öcalan in Northern and Eastern Syria were sent to the Ministry of Justice, along with UN and European institutions.
 
Two initiatives operating in North and East Syria sent 2,541 signatures collected as part of the “I want to meet Leader Abdullah Öcalan” campaign to international institutions. In line with the campaign launched globally on September 10, 2024, the Syria Leader Abdullah Öcalan Freedom Initiative and the Syria Abdullah Öcalan Defense Lawyers Initiative began collecting signatures on August 20. The results of the campaign, which was completed on September 21, were announced to the public in a statement made on the same day.
 
Signatories included individuals from different ethnic and religious communities, human rights defenders, academics, politicians, and tribal representatives.
 
Ferzende Munzir, a member of the initiative, announced that the signatures were sent by letter to the UN Secretary-General, the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the UN Human Rights Council, and the Turkish Ministry of Justice.
