RIHA - Commenting on the liberation of Kobanê, Eyşe Efendî, a member of the Initiative for the Freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, stated that the people put up a historic resistance in Tişrîn with the spirit of Kobanê in 2014 and said, "Our support is our people, YPG, QSD and our Defence Forces."
While the Rojava Revolution, which took place on 19 July 2012 in Northern and Eastern Syria in line with the paradigm and philosophy of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, has become the hope of the peoples of the world, it has also become the target of hegemonic powers. ISIS, which grew stronger with the support of hegemonic powers and countries in the region, besieged Kobanê on 13 September 2014.
With the siege of Kobanê, Kurds and their friends from all over the world, including 4 parts of Kurdistan, flowed to Kobanê with a spirit of mobilisation. As a result of this resistance against ISIS, Kobanê was liberated on 26 January 2015.
Eyşe Efendî, a member of the Initiative for the Freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, one of the witnesses of the Kobanê process and at the same time one of the women who took part in the resistance in that process, told our agency about the process of the liberation of Kobanê and the historical resistance in Tişrîn.
‘Tishreen is a place of resistance’
Stating that the war in Northern and Eastern Syria is a war of existence and non-existence, Eyşe Efendî said, "The war that is going on right now is very violent and full of savagery. There have been uninterrupted attacks on Kobanê for many years. The 2014 war situation is being repeated today. They left the fight against ISIS, they left aside the attacks of Israel, they are dealing with the Kurds. Erdogan, the emir of ISIS, and ISIS are fighting us. In the battle for Kobanê, 4 parts of Kurdistan were involved and mobilisation was declared. At the same time, many foreigners joined the mobilisation and fell martyrs. Just as the resistance given in 2014 is being given today, the martyrs given in the process are being given again today. Today Tişrîn is a place of resistance. On the other hand, there is also a resistance vigil started by the civilian population in Tişrîn. When we look at all these attacks, it is obvious that there is a special war against the Kurds. The emir of ISIS says ‘I will attack wherever there is a Kurd’, and we say: We will continue to resist as long as we exist."
People's resistance
Eyşe Efendî reminded the people marching against the ongoing war in Tişrîn and said the following "5 people from the civilian population were massacred there, dozens were wounded. Against all the attacks, the people are still putting up a great resistance there. When the attack on Afrin was launched, the people resisted there again and kept watch. In the same way, the people have always resisted and are resisting against Turkey's attacks. The whole world has seen this. As Martyr Zehra said, ‘Em ji mirine mestirin (We are bigger than death)’ We also say, Rojava will not fall, (Em ji mirine mestirin) we are bigger than death. International powers also remain silent. On the other hand, the international powers here do nothing against the attacks. Attacks are taking place under their flag. The resistance against this has great meaning."
Greeting the İmralı resistance
Expressing her greetings to the mothers resisting on the border on the anniversary of the liberation of Kobanê, Eyşe Efendî underlined that the resistance on the border of Kobanê in 2014 was very valuable and precious. Eyşe Efendî said, "Today, there are vigils started at the border. Yes, these vigils are important but not enough. The people need to participate more. On the other hand, we salute the dungeon resistance that gives us morale and morale. I salute and embrace the resistance of Leader Apo in Imrali."
‘Our support is our people, YPG, QSD’
"We will protect our gains," said Eyşe Efendî, "Just as the military unity of Kurds was achieved in Kobanê in 2014, we hope that the same unity will be achieved again. In 2014, borders were eliminated with the blood of martyrs. Martyr mothers created unity. 4 parts of Kurdistan formed unity without recognising borders. The discourse that ‘Kurds have not been able to create unity’ is not true. Everyone who calls themselves democrats should put pressure on the governments of the countries they are citizens of and raise their voices against the attacks against Kurds. Concrete steps must be taken now, not just talking. We have nothing to hide, our politics and projects are obvious. In addition, as the peoples of Northern and Eastern Syria, we know that our support is our people, YPG, QSD and our Defence Forces."
‘Berxwedan jiyana’
Eyşe Efendî, who stated that they can only eliminate the attacks with the solidarity of the people, finally said the following: "Erdoğan wants to create a wave of migration inside Rojava. The people have promised that they will not leave their lands. We will not leave this land, even if martyrdom comes. As the people of Rojava, we will either die together or live together. I appeal to young people living in 4 parts and young people travelling to Europe: This responsibility is not only the responsibility of Rojava youth. It is the responsibility of everyone, let's protect Kobanê and Rojava. From here I salute all the resistance areas. We hope that good news will come from Leader Apo. Berxwedan jiyana (To resist is to live), Shahid namirin."
