ÊLIH - On the second day of the citizens' resistance against the trustee appointments in Êlih, many people, including our reporter Pelşin Çetinkaya and Yeni Yaşam newspaper employee Veysi Akören, were detained by the police after being tortured.

Trustees were appointed to Êlih, Mêrdîn and Xalfetî yesterday with the order of the Ministry of Interior.  Citizens' resistance against the appointment of trustees continues. After the statement made by Kurdish politician women and feminist women, the police once again attacked the crowd with tear gas and water cannons.

While many people were detained during the attack, our reporter Pelşin Çetinkaya, who was in Êlih to follow the news, was also detained under torture. Although it was stated that she was a journalist, our reporter's arm was twisted, dragged on the ground and handcuffed behind her back.  The police also detained Veysi Akören, an employee of Yeni Yaşam newspaper.
