ÊLIH - Speaking in front of the blockaded municipality building, Êlih Co-Mayor Gulistan Sönük said, ‘Just as we saved our municipality from usurpation and lies with the highest vote rate in 81 provinces on 31 March, we will save this city and our municipality from usurpation, plunder and colonial regime with a new example of resistance.’

After the appointment of a trustee to Êlih Municipality by the Ministry of Interior, Co-Mayors Gulistan Sonuk and Yesil Isik went in front of the municipality. The crowd gathered here chanted ‘Thief trustee’, ‘Trustees will go, peoples will come’, ‘No to the coup’ and ‘We will win if we resist.'

A citizen who said he was a teacher reacted to the appointment of trustees and said, "Why did you hold elections if you were going to appoint trustees? I brought my elderly parents from outside. They voted, we do not accept injustice. If you are silent, you are dumb devils."

Then Co-Chair Gulistan Sönük said the following: "The governor will come here and say that he spent all the money on war policies. We have said where we will spend the money. We have said one by one what we will do during the whole election process. Now let the Governor come here and say what he will do here. Let him say that he has come to take the food from your table. No, to have a civil servant notify the decision... No, to involve civil servants in all his offences. He will come and say, ‘Dear people of Batman, I left 3 billion in debt without being ashamed or embarrassed, it was not enough for me, I coveted 1 cent in your pockets, I have come to usurp it too."

Gulistan Sonuk also reacted against the blockade of the municipality building and said, "The trustee of Êlih has usurped the municipality with scorpions, armoured vehicles and hedgehogs. They usurped the will of the city with an army of police and armoured vehicles because they know that they are not legitimate. From here we call out to all the people of Êlih. We call out to women. We call out to the youth, women, labourers and all citizens. This municipality belongs to all of us and just as we saved it from usurpation and lies with the highest vote rate in 81 provinces on 31 March, we will save this city, our municipality from usurpation, plunder and colonial regime with a new example of resistance."

The resistance in front of the municipality building continues.
