Êlih Co-Mayor Gulistan Sonuk, who was replaced by a trustee appointed by the Ministry of Interior, reacted to the decision on her digital media account. Gülistan Sonuk said, "Our municipality, which we won with the highest vote rate in Turkey in the 31 March elections with the labour of women, youth and our people, has been usurped as of this morning without any notification to us. We did not and will not accept this plundering and usurping regime. Municipalities belong to the people."
