RIHA - Ronahi TV correspondent Ciwana Cuma, who has been following Turkey's airstrikes on the cities of Northern and Eastern Syria from the region, criticised the silence of the coalition forces and said, "Turkey wants to revive DAIS in the region and bring drugs to the region."

Since 23 October, Turkey has been carrying out airstrikes against many cities in northern and eastern Syria.  During the attacks, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), warplanes, artillery and heavy weapons are used to target people's living spaces. Service centres, electricity and water stations, oil wells and basic life supplies are among the targets. While the international coalition forces and human rights organisations in the region, especially the international coalition forces in the region, maintain their silence against Turkey's attacks, many people have lost their lives, hundreds of people have been injured, and houses and workplaces have become unusable due to the bombardment. In the statement made by the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, it was emphasised that the attacks may cause humanitarian and economic problems and called on the Coalition Forces, Russia and other states not to remain silent against the attacks.

Ronahi TV correspondent Ciwana Cuma made assessments on the latest developments in Northern and Eastern Syria.

‘There is silence from international organisations’

Stating that all border regions are attacked with bombs and tanks, Ciwana said, "Living spaces are targeted with UAVs. They are attacking Rojava using the action in Ankara as an excuse. Turkey is trying to show the targeted places as military places. However, this is not the case, all the places that Turkey is currently attacking are service places. For example, bakeries, gas and electricity stations, tailor shops and places where cars are repaired. There are guarantor powers in the region; unfortunately, no power has made a single statement condemning Turkey so far. There is silence from international powers. Besides all this silence, there is a great resistance of the people."

Mostly women and children are killed in the attacks

"Turkey is always looking for an opportunity to attack Rojava,” Ciwana  said and continued: "Because Turkey wants to block Rojava. It wants to destroy the unity, solidarity and gains formed here. However, the opposite is happening, Kurdish, Arab, Chechen, Assyrian peoples live in peace in Rojava. Their acting together is an answer to Turkey. The people say that they can accept hunger, thirst and everything else, but they cannot live without their own land and honour. The Turkish state carries out such big attacks against Rojava every year. The same thing happened last year. Women and children are the victims of these attacks. Especially when we look at the most recent attacks, we see that women and children are mostly massacred."

‘ Want to revive DAIS’

Ciwana listed the points targeted by Turkey and said: "Some control points of Public Order and Internal Security Forces were targeted by Turkey. It is necessary to ask ’Why were these points targeted? Because Turkey wants to revive ISIS in the region and bring drugs to the region. Therefore, it is the security units that are targeted. Not only these, but also the points close to the prisons where DAIS members stay in Qamişlo and Dêrîk are being hit. What kind of danger will the escape of ISIS members, who are seen as a danger to the whole world, from prisons pose? This is a huge burden for the Autonomous Administration."

Self-defence actions

Reminding the statement of QSD Commander Mazlûm Êbdî, Ciwana said, "He said that self-defence is a right. He emphasised dialogue; however, he said that they would respond to possible attacks as self-defence. Within the scope of self-defence, QSD and Efrîn Liberation Forces (Hêzên Rizgariya Efrînê) carried out many actions. Many actions were taken in Til Temir, Zirganê, Şehba and Til Rifet and many gangs were killed. Attacks like these are being met with great responses. The people are behind their own army and are responding to Turkey's attacks. Turkey's plans will not reach their goal. The guarantor powers are here only with their names, they have not given an answer to Turkey so far."
