ŞIRNEX - TJA held a women's meeting in Qileban on the way to 25 November. Speaking at the meeting, Cizîr Municipality Co-Mayor Berivan Kutlu said, "On November 25, we will raise our voices for both our rights and our Leader."

 

Tevgera Jinên Azad (TJA) held a women's meeting at the People's Equality and Democracy Party (HEDEP) District Organization in the Qileban (Uludere) district of Şirnex, within the scope of the 25 November International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Many women attended the meeting and talked about the isolation imposed on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, the special war against women and the meaning of November 25 for women.

 

At the meeting, first of all, a minute of silence was held for those who lost their lives in the struggle for freedom.

 

'We will raise our voices'

 

At the meeting, Cizîr Co-Mayor Berivan Kutlu, who was replaced by a trustee, made a speech. Berivan stated that November 25 has a great meaning for them and stated that Kurdish women struggle in all areas of life. Berivan said, “Many women gave their lives to end violence. If we are gathering here today and fighting as women, it is thanks to our mothers and our female friends. It is the female resisters and our Leader who brought women to this point today. Mr. Abdullah Öcalan brought us women from nothing to today, but today there is no news from him under isolation. Our Leader, who paid the price for our freedom, has been in isolation for years. They want to isolate us from our Leader, but they cannot create isolation in our hearts or minds. The key to the solution is in the hands of the Leader. We are no longer saying that the isolation should be lifted, but that physical freedom should be ensured. We will not take a step back for the freedom of the Leader. On November 25, as women, we will raise our voices both for our rights and for our Leader."

 

'They want to distance us from our culture through private war'

 

Berivan stated that isolation, special war and attempts to bring down women are interconnected and added, “They are waging the special war in such a way that they have alienated us from our culture. They are trying to take women away from freedom, but women have the power since history, they cannot take her away from freedom. Women are the teachers of society. Kurdish women are being brought down by the hands of specialist sergeants and guards. Women's bodies are commodified. We must not move away from our own truth and truth."

 

'Erdogan is killing women with different policies'

 

Noting that violence against women has continued since the murder of the Mirabal Brothers, Berivan said: “Violence is not only physical, but also verbal, economic and psychological violence. This is the biggest violence Erdoğan has committed today. Hundreds of women are killed by the police, but when we react, we are beaten, but when women are murdered, no voice is raised. Erdogan is killing women with different policies. Our enemy is the policies carried out to destroy the Kurdish woman. We must increase our struggle. Women need to be pioneers to end this violence."

 

Berivan lastly called on women to join the protest in Şirnex on November 25.
