SHEHBA - Reacting to the attacks of Turkey and its affiliated groups against Şerewa and Shehba, the women staying in Vegerê Camp said, ‘’We are strong, no one can break our will’’. Women gave the message that they will resist against the attacks.

 

The attacks launched against Afrin in 2018 by Turkey and its affiliated groups continue. The people who resisted due to the attacks were forced to migrate from the city after a while. The people living in the camps established in Shehba are also facing with attacks here. While the attacks on Şerewa and Shehba continued uninterrupted, lastly the Vegerê Camp was also bombed by Turkey on November 19.

 

Women living in the camp talked about Turkey’s attacks.

 

Fatime Osman from Raco district expressed her reaction to the attacks with the following words, ‘’As a result of the attacks of the occupant Turkish state, we migrated to Shehba Canton. They were not satisfied with that, and now they continue to attack us. Attacks on the camps are prohibited according to all international treaties and law. However, despite this, international institutions and states remain silent against the attacks of the Turkish state. Everyone needs to see the truths now. We want a solution to this. We have the right to live at peace in our own land. That’s why we want human rights organizations to take action as soon as possible. We are having difficulties in the camp. Winter has come, our children are getting sick from the cold’’.

 

‘We will continue to resist’

 

Stating that Turkey’s aim is to take Shehba under control, Fatime said, ‘’Turkey is attacking the camps and wants to scare the civilians. Here, too, it wants to emigrate us. This is done to occupy the Shehba Canton completely. However, Turkey’s dream will not come true. Because we will not leave Shehba. We migrated from Afrin four years ago and came here and settled in the camp. Turkey is bombing us here too. It is very cold here in winter and hot in summer. But we still resist and we will resist until the end. We will continue to resist until we return to our land and establish a peaceful life in Afrin’’.

 

‘Human rights organizations are silent’

 

Valantina Bilal from Maseka village of Raco showed her reaction to the attacks with these words, ‘’We are having a hard time in camp life here. The Turkish state is bombing the camp. Our children were very scared because of the bombing. We did not know how to protect ourselves. The Turkish state is attacking the camps where civilians are located. It wants to emigrate us from here too. Despite this, human rights organizations are silent against the Turkish state and its gangs’’.

 

‘They cannot break our will’

 

Noting that other countries ignore Turkey’s attacks, Valantina said, ‘’The Turkish state wants to break the will of the Kurdish people. But we are strong and they cannot break our will. We will never leave Shehba, we have great hope of returning to Afrin. We will resist until the last drop of our blood’’.
