KOCAELİ - Many HDP members and association executives were detained in raids on houses and ANYAKAY-DER association building in Kocaeli and Istanbul.

 

Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Kocaeli Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the houses of the Kocaeli provincial and district executives of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) were raided in the morning hours. HDP Darıca District Co-chair Erkan Şık, Dilovası District Co-chair Kadir Demir, Gebze District Co-chair Menderes Yıldız, provincial executive Deniz Atalay, Kadir Daşdemir, Darıca City Council member Erol Ada, party members Arif Demirkaya and Seyyat Kaya were detained in the operation.

 

House raids also in Istanbul

 

As part of the same investigation, many houses were raided in Istanbul as well. During the house raids in Istanbul’s Kartal, Tuzla and Sultanbeyli districts; Şehmuz Işık, Deniz Serhat and Cihan Kavçin were detained.

The building of the Association for Assistance and Solidarity with the Families Who Lost Their Relatives in Anatolia (ANYAKAY-DER) in Istanbul was raided last night. The police, who broke the door of the association, dispersed the items inside. Computers and books belonging to the association were confiscated, and many executives and members were detained.
