NEWS CENTER - In a statement on November 1 World Kobanê Day, DBP said, ‘’The resistance in Kobanê from young to old alike defeated fascism and the darkness of ISIS and prevented its expansion there’’.
The Democratic Regions Party (DBP) released a written statement regarding the November 1 World Kobanê Day. In the statement, it was stated that all peoples, especially the Kurdish people, showed great resistance against ISIS gangs who are enemies of nature, humanity and history, and emphasized that Kobanê was protected at the cost of their lifes.
‘Fascism has been defeated’
The statement included the following, ‘’While Arîn Mirkan, one of the symbols of the Kobanê resistance, led the liberation of Kobanê with her action against the gangs, thousands of resistance fighters brought the Rojava Revolution together with the peoples of the world, and revolutionaries from all over the world fought against the gangs in Kobanê and made Kobanê the center of the Rojava Revolution. A heroical resistance took place for 133 days to protect human dignity. Just as fascism had a great defeat in Stalingrad in the Second World War, the resistance in Kobanê from young to old alike defeated fascism and the darkness of ISIS and prevented its expansion there. With the total faith, determination and struggle of the people of Kurdistan, not only ISIS was defeated. At the same time, have defeated those who were expecting with the dream of ‘’Kobanê has fallen, it will fall’’.
In the continuation of the statement, it was underlined that as the DBP, they stand by all the peoples who increase the freedom struggle against the darkness of ISIS, and stated, “On this occasion, once again, we celebrate the November 1 World Solidarity Day with Kobanê; We call for a common struggle to the Kurdish people, their friends, and everyone who demands democracy and freedom’’.
Statement from HDP
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Central Executive Board also made a written statement regarding the November 1 World Solidarity Day with Kobanê.
‘It has been seven years since the heroical resistance’
Emphasizing that seven years have passed since the heroical resistance and victory in Kobanê against ISIS barbarism, the statement said, ‘’The people of Kobanê have rewritten the history of freedom in the 21st century with their unique resistance for 133 days against the attacks which tried to overwhelm the whole world into darkness, starting from the Middle East. The fight against ISIS was an inevitable confrontation between freedom and barbarism, darkness and light, democracy and despotism. The winners were the common values of humanity, and the losers were the ISIS mentality and the dark forces behind it.
‘Kobanê resistance also raised the conscience of humanity’
In the statement, while reminding the defeats of international and regional powers in the face of the brutality of ISIS, it was noted that the Kurdish people made a mark in history with faith and resistance despite the impossibilities. Stating that all people in the world who want equality and freedom witnessed this struggle, the statement said, ‘’The Kobanê resistance also raised the conscience of humanity. No one stood by as a spectator neither to the persecution nor to this resistance against it. World Solidarity Day with Kobanê was declared on November 1, 2014, with the call of hundreds of thousands of people who took action, especially Nobel Peace Prize winners, academics, intellectuals, writers and non-governmental organizations’’.
‘Even though ISIS is defeated, its mentality persists’
The statement greeting the resistance in Kobanê said, ‘’We know that; Even though ISIS was defeated, its mentality persists, this historical confrontation between darkness and light continues. ISIS partners are burning with the desire to take revenge on Kobane, they want to achieve what ISIS failed to achieve. Today, the AKP government’s threats of attack on Northern and Eastern Syria, the conspiracy trial launched against our party six years later on the grounds of solidarity protests with Kobanê is the expression of this revenge’’.
Kobanê is a women’s revolution
The statement noted, ‘’Yesterday, ISIS did not succeed, and those who have the same ambition as it today will not succeed. This historical victory that sprouted in Kobanê and turned into a garden of peoples-beliefs and solidarity will continue to live and inspire the peoples of the world. The Kobanê revolution, which emerged as a women’s revolution, will continue to exist by getting stronger against monism and male-dominated mentality. We celebrate November 1 World Solidarity Day with Kobanê. We emphasize once again that we are on the side of right and truth, and resisting peoples. We expect the same sensitivity from the whole world against the new attack threats on the peoples of Kobanê and North-East Syria’’.
