ANKARA - HDP MP Ayşe Sürücü, who brought the armoured vehicle massacres in the region and the latest injury of a child in Urfa to the parliament, asked the Minister of Interior and Vice President, ‘’How many military personnel who caused civilian deaths since 2003 have received full punishment?’’
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Urfa MP Ayşe Sürücü asked Minister of Interior Süleyman Soylu and Vice President Fuat Oktay about the increasing number of armoured vehicle massacres in the region and the recent serious injury of a child as a result of being hit by an armoured vehicle in Urfa.
‘Racist attacks against Kurdish citizens go unpunished’
Pointing out that the ‘murders’ are getting deeper with the extreme security policies and racist attacks increasing in the social sphere, the parliamentary question said, ‘’While the discriminator language used by politicians has an indisputable dimension on social polarization, we observe that racist attacks against Kurdish citizens go unpunished. Citizens who lost their lives by being crushed by an armoured vehicle in cities where Kurds live intensely are found as fault, and it was later reflected in the press that the perpetrators of these deaths went unpunished. Yesterday, on October 20, 2021, a child named N.D. was hit by an armoured vehicle and injured sriously in the Viranşehir district of Şanlıurfa. During the talk with child’s family, it was learned that the child, who was operated in the hospital in the center of Şanlıurfa, is now in good condition and child’s treatment continues. This type of vehicles with limited field of vision and no walker sensors should be banned from being in cities. The public conscience has been severely hurt as it is. It is essential to make a public statement on this matter.’’
