‘Pressures and tension policy are increasing’

Being held in Kandıra Women's Closed Prison, one of the prisons where oppression has increased, Figen shared the following information through her lawyers: “In Kandıra F Type Prison, where we are, pressures and tension policy are increasing. The political power and the Ministry of Justice are directly responsible for all the problems that will be occured, may be experienced in prisons or for possible more severe attacks and losses. ‘Searches that should be made once a month are made every three days’

The information shared by the lawyers, who met other politically imprisoned women in Kandıra No. 1 F Type Closed Prison, regarding the prison conditions is as follows: ‘’While it is necessary to approach more sensitively with the pandemic process, on the contrary, violations of rights have unfortunately increased day by day. As follows, searches that are made routinely once a month have started to be made every three days. In addition, it was stated that the counting made in the morning and evening was increased to three times a day, and even the last counting was carried out at 00.00 at night. Psychological violence is committed

While the right of the prisoners to open meetings with their families is prevented by reasoning the pandemic process, the common areas of isolated prisoners are restricted, all activities stopped, and there is no clear explanation for these arbitrary searches, counting at 00.00 at night. Prisoners try to remain as calm as possible in the face of these events, but it was reported that a tense atmosphere could not be prevented. It was informed that serious psychological violence was being committed.’’
