ANKARA - Speaking about the isolation imposed on PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan, the women politicians pointed out that the peoples are under isolation and said: ‘’With our struggle, we will break the aggravated isolation.’’

 

The conditions of isolation on PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan continue to deepen. In order to end the isolation, many actions and activities are carried out in the Middle East and Europe, especially in prisons. Most recently, Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) prisoners held in prisons started an indefinite-alternating hunger strike on November 27, 2020, to end the isolation and ended their actions on September 12.

Speaking about the isolation on Abdullah Öcalan, the politicians noted that the isolation has spread to the society and stated that they will break the isolation with a struggle.

 

‘Society is under isolation’

 

Stating that the entire society, from children to women, is under isolation, Silopi Municipality Co-Mayor Adalet Fidan noted that the society cannot express their thoughts freely, cannot speak their mother tongue and their demands for education in mother tongue are not met. Underlining that they are going through a period in which harassment, rape and violence are tried to be legitimated, Adalet said: ‘’With this, the will of the people is want to be broken. 

 

The Kurdish problem needs to be solved and peoples need to express themselves in their own language and receive education. Peoples should be recognized and mentioned with their own identities. However, this is not seen as a permanent problem. The government approaches this problem in line with its own interests. Erdoğan said that the ‘’Kurdish problem should be solved in Diyarbakır’’, but now he is talking about the absence of such a problem. They contradict with their own words. There is a Kurdish problem.’’

 

‘We feel the isolation to our bones’

 

Stating that the peoples are under isolation, Kayapınar Municipality Council Member Nevin Oyman emphasized that especially women and youth are under isolation. Nevin said that we started to feel the isolation to our bones, and contineud: ‘’We are no longer in a position to talk. This alone shows how severe the isolation is. The government is trying to take everything into its hands and does not want anyone to talk. As a result of the isolation, I don’t feel free and I always feel pressured. Even the annulment of the Istanbul Convention overnight is an isolation.’’

 

‘Isolation is the heaviest crime against humanity’

 

Noting that the isolation on PKK leader Abdullah Öcalan has affected all the peoples of the Middle East and the world, Savur Co-Mayor Gülistan Öncü, who was replaced with trustee, stated that the government wants to prevent alternative thought and life through isolation. Pointing out that the isolation affects the Kurds the most, Gülistan said: ‘’Isolation blocks everything, it affects our lives economically and politically in every aspect. Isolation is the heaviest crime against humanity. It is unthinkable to cut off a person’s relationship or communication with other people for years. The people must stand against the isolation with national consciousness and in an organized manner. Such dirty policies are being carried out on the people that even the public is prevented from thinking. People need to stand up for their values and raise their voices. With the resistance of the people, these attacks can be eliminated.’’

 

‘We will break the isolation with our struggle’

 

Batman Municipality Council Member Şükran Çelebi, who drew attention to the policies carried out with a male mentality and the will of the peoples, women and society are not recognized, reacted to the monist policies of the government. Noting that Abdullah Öcalan developed a paradigm against these monist policies, Şükran continued: ‘’He developed a democratic, ecological and women’s libertarian thought throughout the Middle East. People and beliefs saw themselves in this understanding. People saw a dignified and equal life in this life. The government, on the other hand, saw the development of this paradigm as a danger to itself. This struggle will bring the end of the system. This has been realized. The isolation imposed on Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan in Imralı is being practiced on all the peoples of the Middle East, especially the Kurdish people. As a result of the struggle, many women’s gains were achieved. The government saw these gains as a danger to itself. We live and struggle in line with this paradigm. With our struggle, we will break the aggravated isolation.’’
