DİYARBAKIR - Speaking about the mass press release to be held on the occasion of the World Peace Day on September 4 after the banning of the planned rally in Diyarbakır, Emine Akşahin from Amed Labor and Democracy Platform called on everyone to unite around the slogan ‘’Now is time to shout the peace’’.
The rally, which was planned to be held on Saturday, September 4, in Diyarbakır, due to 1 September World Peace Day, was blocked by the Office of the Governor. The organizing committee of the rally, on the other hand, decided to express their demands with a mass release to be made at 16:00 in front of AZC Plaza in the Ofis district on the same day.
Emine Akşahin, from the Amed Labor and Democracy Platform and a Chairperson of the Education and Science Workers’ Union (Eğitim Sen) Branch No.1 in Diyarbakır, drew attention to the importance of this year’s 1 September World Peace Day and called for participation.
‘We need to shout more for peace’
Emine said that the economic tightness in the country turned into a real poverty revolt and that there were oppression, attacks and massacres against political groups, and drew attention to the massacres against nature and femicides. Noting that the chaos will only end with peace, Emine said: ‘’The imposition is the war tactic of capitalist modernity. We see that the main target of this war program is women. However, women are in a great struggle against the entire war tactic and program of the imposed capitalist system. Women did not stop wanting peace and expressing that they wanted to live humanely. We see women of the world unite their voices. We are also witnessing the common women's struggle against the events in Afghanistan. For this reason, we, as the forces of labor and democracy, have a great responsibility against the war programs imposed on nature, women and society in general. We know that the way to achieve this is to shout peace more peace. The impositions shows that we need to shout the peace more.’’
‘Negotiation and dialogue against war’
Emine warned as: “If we do not come together and unite, we will lose more of our gains’’. She continued: ‘’Unfortunately, there is an atmosphere of war in our country that has been going on for years. The budget, which should be allocated to the peoples and life, is allocated to continuing military operations. People’s money made a present to the palace with capital and wars. It is obvious that ending this can only be possible with peace. Negotiations and dialogues should be made by creating an atmosphere of democracy against the ongoing war. If this is realised, we will open the door to peace and happiness in togetherness and common life. If we come together and develop a common word, we will be the winners. Otherwise, we will lose more of our gains and we will have to live with the consequences of the war.’’
Call to rally
Emphasizing the need to unite in the struggle for a democratic civil build, Emine called everyone to a mass press release to be held in front of the AZC Plaza in the Ofis part of Yenişehir district on September 4 to unite the voice of peace. Emine said: ‘’It is clear that this year’s World Peace Day has a special significance. More shouting of peace on 1 September World Peace Day against the imposed war, with a magnificent participation in the rally to be held, we demand that the longing for peace turn into a day when it is shouted in the fields.’’
