37 women killed in May

NEWS CENTER - We Will Stop Femicide Platform has announced that at least 37 women were killed and 23 children were subjected to sexual abuse in May. 62% of these women were killed by their husbands and boyfriends.
 
We Will Stop Femicide Platform (Kadın Cinayetlerini Durduracağız Platformu -KCDP) has released its report on violence against women in April. The report says at least 37 women were killed and 23 children were sexually abused in May, 2018. Stating that the state has to determine the relevant authorities and the methods of combating violence within the scope of the Istanbul Convention Action against violence against women and domestic violence but the authorities being talked about don’t fulfil the responsibilities, the report says, “We prepare a report according to reports we compiled from local and national newspapers, news websites and agencies; however, the number of child abuse and sexual violence is more than in our report. According to reports, 37 women were killed and child abuse and sexual violence continued in May, 2018. Each day, more than a woman is killed. No measure is being taken to stop femicide.”
 
13 women died suspiciously
 
Emphasizing that the rate of femicide increased in May, the report says, “The rate of femicide increased in May compared to the previous month. In May, 13 women died suspiciously, the reason of 12 women's deaths couldn’t be detected. 62% of these women were killed by their husbands and boyfriends.”
