Democratic Society Congress (DTK) has released a written statement for “Çarşema Sor” (Red Wednesday) festival, which Êzidî people celebrate on the first Wednesday after April 13. Stating that different peoples and beliefs in Kurdistan and Middle East have celebrated the awakening of nature by organizing various events and festivals for thousands of years, the statement says, “One of these sacred festivals is Êzidî people’s Çarşema Sor Festival. Çarşema Sor is seen as the day when the earth is fermented. It is the awakening of the nature; it is regarded as sign of beautiful days of the New Year. It denies hate and it is the day for peace, fraternity and solidarity. Our Êzidî people are the people face the most annihilation, denial, assimilation and displacement policies imposed on the peoples of the Middle East. Happy Çarşema Sor to all Êzidî people.”
