Women prisoners in Tarsus Prison subjected to torture!

MERSİN - 15 women prisoners, who protested a pregnant woman to be subjected to strip search in Tarsus Women’s Closed Prison, were beat and then held in sponge room by wardens.
 
Women prisoners in Tarsus Women’s Closed Prison located in Tarsus Penitentiary Institution Campus were subjected to strip search. A woman prisoner being exiled from Mardin E-type Closed Prison to Tarsus Women’s Closed Prison was subjected to strip search by wardens. Another woman prisoner, who is pregnant and was in labor was also subjected to strip search after being brought from the hospital.
 
When the women returned to their wards and told the women in the wards what they had been subjected to, the women prisoners took off the prison uniform to protest the situation. The wardens thereupon raided the ward No C7. 15 women were reportedly beat and held in sponge room for 17 hours.
 
The prisoners called their families yesterday and reported that the incident took place on Saturday, March 3, 2018. The prisoners reported that their friends had been held in cells and all of their rights were taken away from them. The prisoners also called for legal support.
 
The relatives of the prisoners have reportedly applied to the Human Rights Association (İHD) and the Libertarian Jurists Association (ÖHD) for getting legal support.
