AFRÎN - Women’s delegation coming from Southern Kurdistan to Afrin to support the resistance led by women in Afrin call on all women to take to the streets on March 8 for Afrin.

 

Afrîn Delegation of Kurdistan Women's Committee departed from Southern Kurdistan on February 24 against the attacks of Turkey and Turkey-backed groups on Afrin. The delegation consists of 18 women went to Cizre, the Euphrates region, Manbij and then arrived to Afrin on March 1. The delegation has visited many places in the city and attended the funeral ceremonies to stand by the people of Afrin.

 

Avat Husamedin Tayid, a member of the delegation and representative of Zoroastrian, said, “We came from Southern Kurdistan to say we stand by the people of Afrin as the people of all ages.” Stating that they want to give the message “We have one voice, one heart and we are in a part” to the whole world, Avat said, “As Kurdish people, we will not allow the territory of Kurdistan to be exploited. The reason for coming here is to state that we will not allow the occupying Turkish state to exploit here.”

 

Stating that the world is keeping silent against the massacres taking place in Afrin, Avat added, “But we will not keep silent. Hundreds of elders, women and children have been killed until now. We don’t want to make comparison by talking about the deaths but they condemn and take a stand when a child is killed in Palestine. Why don’t they show this attitude for Afrin now? As Kurdish people, we will defeat fascism in Afrin despite all attacks. We won in Afrin and we will win.”

 

‘Free women philosophy leads the resistance’

 

Mizgin Ari, representative of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) in Southern Kurdistan, commented on women’s resistance in Afrin and she said, “When we arrived in Afrin, we saw how the free women's philosophy wanted to be created by the Kurdish People's Leader Abdullah Öcalan leads the resistance. Free women’s resistance resisting against dominant system is going on in Afrin.

 

“As women, we build the every sphere of life. We will grow the resistance and flock to everywhere. Let’s take to the streets by unifying the resistance spirit of women like Arin, Barin and Avesta with the resistance of Afrin.”
