DERİK - Internationalist revolutionary Tijda, who came to Rojava short while ago to know the women’s revolution, talked about the attacks on Afrin and she said, “The Turkish state is targeting the women carrying out the Rojava Revolution. The support and solidarity actions of the women around the world for women of Rojava are very important. Women’s struggles are common no matter where they are.”

Along with Kurdish women, many internationalist women have come to Rojava since the beginning of the revolution and they have communed with the system in Rojava. One of these women is French internationalist Tijda. Tijda came to Rojava two months ago to know more about the revolution. She said, “Knowing the women’s revolution was very important for me. The reason for coming here was that and I have learned many things until now. The women are creating their assemblies and communes for their organization. In my opinion, they are an important model for all women around the world to create their own organization.”

Women around the world rise up for Afrin

Tijda recalled the “Women rise up” campaign launched for Afrin and she said, “Women are rising up for Afrin. Many people are supporting the campaign. Defending Afrin is defending women’s revolution. The Turkish state is targeting the women carrying out the Rojava Revolution. It wants to destroy these women experiencing the democratic system. Now, we are witnessing women’s resistance in Afrin. As the women witnessing this struggle, we should give strength and support these women.”

‘Women's struggle is being carried out from a common front’

“Women's resistance is very special,” Tijda said, “All women supporting and standing up for this resistance on March 8 support this resistance and mobilize their own power in this sense. Women from Latin America to Europe regarded this resistance as their resistance and they stood up for it. All women carried out actions, prepared banners and wrote slogans. This shows how women’s struggle is carried out from the common front.

‘Long live March 8, long live the resistance of Afrin’

“Women’s struggles are common no matter where they are. Long live March 8 women’s resistance and YPJ, long live the women resisting in Afrin.”
