Police attack March 8 rally in Ankara: Many women detained

ANKARA - Police attacked the March 8 International Women’s Day rally organized by Ankara Women’s Platform outside of Çankara Municipality and detained many women. Mezopotamya News Agency reporter Diren Yurtsever was also taken into custody during the attack.
 
Police attacked the March 8 International Women’s Day rally tried to be organized outside of Çankaya Municipality led by Ankara Women’s Platform. Police first insulted the women gathering outside of the municipality and then forcibly took the women from the rally area. The women didn’t leave the area despite police attacks. Police therefore attacked the women by using tear gas and rubber bullets and detained many women.
 
Mezopotamya News Agency reporter Diren Yurtsever was taken into custody by police on the ground that she hasn’t yellow press card while she was covering the rally. Meanwhile, the journalists trying to cover the rally faced barriers of police.
