AFRİN - The Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) Co-chair Asya Abdullah stated that the spirit arose in Kobanê is going on in Afrin today and she said the women led the resistance against invasion attacks that is destitute of humanitarian principles for 44 days. “All women should be the voice of the women fighting in fronts and the resistance going on here. All the women of the world should stand by the women of Afrin and carry the spirit of March 8 to here,” said Asya.

 

The Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) Co-chair Asya Abdullah talked about March 8, International Women’s Day. Pointed out that “Resistance of Age” is a reflection of Rojava Revolution, Asya called all women to speak out for Afrin. “With political and social power, women took their place in all spheres in Rojava and led the revolution. The rise of the women's struggle in Northern Syria is taking place today. All women in northern Syria have stood up for this women's revolution. Women’s struggle for freedom has become a culture for us,” said Asya.

 

‘Women make themselves visible through the struggle against Daesh fascism’

 

Ponting out that Northern Syrian women making themselves visible through the struggle against fascism of Daesh won a great victory against ruling power of men, “Women fighting Daesh fascism prove once again that male-dominant system has been broken on these territories. Hundreds of thousands of women are carrying the struggle for freedom with their will on these lands.”

 

Pointing out that the struggle is formed based on the Women's Defense Units (YPJ), Asya mentioned the spirit of freedom arisen by women in resistance of Kobanê. “Women’s struggle of the YPJ leads the women to organize themselves in every sphere of life. They led the women to get great knowledge and experience. The resistance of the YPJ built hope for all women. Women’s resistance particularly in Kobanê became the representative of the hope for women’s freedom.”

 

Call on all women around the world

 

Stating that the resistance in Afrin is for all women around the world, Asya called on all women around the world; “All women should be voice of the resistance going on here, they should be the voice of women fighting in fronts. All the women of the world should stand by the women of Afrin and carry the spirit of March 8 to here.”
