Thousands join HDP congress despite all obstacles

ANKARA - Thousands of HDP members reached the congress hall despite pressures, detention and obstacles going on for days. Yellow, red and green head bands haven’t been allowed to be taken to the congress hall and journalists haven’t been allowed to take their cameras and computers in the hall.
 
3rd Ordinary Congress of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) has begun despite pressures, detention and obstacles on the party’s members. The party’s delegation and members from many cities could enter the congress hall after passing several checkpoints. Items like bag, cosmetic, charger and lighter have been prohibited in accordance with the decision of Ankara Governorate.

Armored vehicles and the trucks belonging to Ankara Metropolitan Municipality have been stationed around the congress hall and many points have been closed for any traffic or pedestrian movement. At least five checkpoints have been built around the hall. Yellow, red and green head bands haven’t been allowed to be taken to the congress hall and journalists haven’t been allowed to take their cameras and computers in the hall.
 
Police remove the banner reading ‘No to war’
 
Last night, police removed the banners reading “Ji şer re na/Savaşa Hayır (No to war)”, “No to isolation” and “We are against one-uniform, one-man and state of emergency”.
 
Internet connection of the hall cut off
 
The internet connection of the hall has been cut off upon the demand of the police. The people gathering at the hall began to shout slogan, “Bijî berxwedana Efrinê (Long live the resistance of Afrin)”.
