Many people detained in İzmir, Ankara, Mersin

NEWS CENTER - Many people, including politicians, trade unionists, Peace Mothers, City Council members and ecologists have been detained in the house raids conducted in İzmir, Ankara and Mersin.
 
Police raided many houses in Konak, Çimentepe, Bornova, Buca, Narlıdere, Balçova and Bayraklı district of İzmir province. After the search in the houses, many people, including politicians, trade unionists, Peace Mothers, City Council members and ecologists, have been taken into custody.
 
Names of some of detained people held in İzmir Police Headquarters are;  İzmir City Council member Kızbes Seyhan Aydın, Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) Ecology Assembly member Erol Akcan, İzmir Peace Mothers’ Assembly members Behiye Yalçın, Hanife Polat and Melahat Kuş, Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) İzmir Provincial Administrator Mahsun Koç, HDP Bayraklı District Co-chair İsmet Akbulak, HDP Buca District Administrator Teyfik Boğa Kaplan, YAKDER member Kerem Ay, İzmir Association of Religious People member Ferzende Deniz, DBP Provincial administrator Haydar Tekin, members Dilek Bakış, Atiye Şahin, Ali İhsan Toprak, Bışar Arı, Mehmet Akdoğan, Çetin Çavdarcı and Socialist Re-Foundation Party (SYKP) Headquarter Administrator Cavit Uğur.
 
KESK and MYK members detained
 
Confederation of Public Laborer's Unions (KESK) Financial Secretary and Central Executive Committee member Elif Çuhadar was taken into custody after police raided her house in the morning.
 
HDP Mersin Provincial Co-chair detained
 
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Mersin Provincial Co-chair Fatmagül Demirtağ was taken into custody by police while going to Osmaniye. Reason for her detention is unknown yet and she has been taken to Mersin Provincial Police Headquarters.
