451st day on Yüksel: 5 detained

ANKARA – Police attacked the people gathering for “We want our jobs back” action and detained five of them.

“We want our jobs back” action initiated by dismissed educators Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça in front of the Human Rights Monument on Yüksel Avenue carried out by dismissed public laborers has been on its 451st day.

Protesters gathering on Ankara’s Konur Street wanted to make a statement in front of the Human Rights Monument blockaded by riot police and armored vehicles. Police didn’t allow the protesters to go to in front of the monument. The protesters therefore unfurled a banner reading, “451st day of our resistance, we want our jobs back”.

Police attacked the protesters and detained Alev Şahin, Nazan Bozkurt, Mehmet Dersulu, Eyüp Aksoy and Engin Karataş.
